TWCERT CC Participates in the 28th Annual FIRST Conference on Computer Security Incident Handling

The annual conference of the Forum of Incident Response and Security Team (FIRST) in 2016 was held by the Korea Information Security Agency (KISA) and the Korea Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Center (KrCERT/CC) on June 12-17 in Seoul, Korea.

Established in 1990, the mission of FIRST is to address ever-changing cyber security incidents. Currently, it is the biggest non-profit international cyber security organization with more than 320 members including governmental institutions, private enterprises, and academic and research institutions in America, Europe, and Asia. TWCERT/CC is also the full member of FIRST.

International exchanges and critical information infrastructure protection are the current focus of TWCERT/CC. Most of the participants of the FIRST 2016 were professionals and high-level officials of CERTs and CSIRTs. The goal of FIRST 2016 were to share experiences of cyber security and produce referable outputs by focused discussions and interactions, therefore the conference was divided in keynote speeches, sessions and parallel workshops.

In the conference, the trends of each country’s cyber security policy are spotlights, too. In comply with the more and more complicated cyberattacks, Korea lifted up her National Cyber Security Center from the National Intelligence Service to the common supervision of the National Security Council; while Japan has promoting the alliance among her CERTs and CSIRTs to facilitate the sharing of cyber threat intelligence.
