TWCERT/CC participates in HITCON CMT 2018 Cybersecurity Competition
Date: July 27-28, 2018
Venue: 5th Floor, Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center

Different from the past, in addition to set up a booth at the scene, this year in HITCON CMT 2018 TWCERT/CC held the competition “Disclose Hacked IP CAMs: Notify TWCERT/CC ASAP”.

During the HITCON Community 2018, HITCON launched the cybersecurity competitions and issued HITCON Tokens for HITCON souvenir exchanges, which created an incentive for competitors to devote themselves into the competitions and contributed about 60 verified hacked IP CAMs. These IP CAMs either use weak passwords or contain vulnerabilities thus their pictures are exposed to the public, and they may be exploited as part of botnets to conduct DDoS attacks. TWCERT/CC thanks the competitors’contribution and will actively notify the owners of these hacked IP CAMs to ask them to change their passwords or fix the vulnerabilities.

Taiwan’s Internet security needs everyone’s devotion to formulate successful collective cybersecurity defense. Currently TWCERT/CC operates by the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) and is instructed by the Department of Cybersecurity, Executive Yuan. The duties of TWCERT/CC are to assist in cybersecurity incident notifications from civil society, promote cybersecurity awareness, provide cybersecurity consultations, and collaborate with cybersecurity organizations from Taiwan and abroad to exchange cybersecurity intelligence. Every TWCERT/CC receives many cybersecurity notifications from individuals and units in Taiwan and abroad. If you have discovered any hacked ICT facilities, please actively notify TWCERT/CC.
