TWCERT CC Participates in the APCERT Online Drill Cyber Attacks beyond Traditional Sources

The annual APCERT Drill was held by the Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT) on March 18, 2015 to test the cyber emergency readiness of the Asia Pacific economies. The online drill was executed according to the written script, and the simulated cyber security incident was sent through e-mails. APCERT divided its online drill members into four groups, which were “script design group”, “facilities maintenance group”, “incident delivery group”, and “execution and response group”. The execution and response group was divided into two sub-groups: “the players” should respond to the incident it received and then reply to the APCERT incident delivery group; while “the observers” should monitor the drill, for example, to assure the delivery and response of the simulated incident.

The theme of the drill was “Cyber Attacks beyond Traditional Sources”and reflected an incident happened before: a team was requested to handle a massive cyberattack against the government through the vulnerability of home routers. 25 CSIRTs from 19 economies participated in this drill.
