TWCERT CC Assists the 2018 SHIELD CTF Contest

The 2018 SHIELD CTF Contest was held by the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) and assisted by TWCERT/CC.  The awards ceremony was moderated by the NCSIST president, Dr. GAO Chung-hsing at 9 am on August 29 in the GIS NTU Convention Center.  In addition to awarding the teams 217 and Taipei-Meow, Dr. Yi-bin LU, professor of the Chung Cheng Institute of Technology, also lectured on the topic of "CTF's Influence to Taiwan's Cybersecurity Development" in the ceremony to convey the importance of cybersecurity industry development. 

The topics of the 2018 SHIELD CTF were "reverse engineering", "computer forensics", "vulnerability analysis", "webpage security", and "other topics". The first prize was awarded with NTD 100,000 to the Team 217, a constant award-winner in CTFs held in Taiwan and around the world.

In recent years, information security and cybersecurity have become hot issues, and around the world, "Capture The Flags (CTFs)" contests have been held one after another. Since 2016, the NCSIST has begun to held the annual SHIELD CTF Contest to discover outstanding cybersecurity talents in Taiwan and to establish multi-dimentional channels to facilitate exchanges and to accelerate the cybersecurity technology development hence to integrate the private sector to establish a complete national cyber defense mechanism.
