微軟在1/12停止對Windows 8 的安全支援，不再提供修補及安全性更新，而使用者可以選擇升級至Windows 8.1 或是 Windows 10，兩者對於Windows8的使用者來說皆可免費升級，且這兩個平台也比Windows 8 明顯提供更多的更新，使用者應盡快更新，以免受到病毒威脅。
